Content is always the key for a site success. To gather information for the site content there, are four main ways you can adopt to create contents.

  • Create content via research

    Browse through public libraries, online reference sites, other blogs, wikis and gather as much as possible information related to the site content you are creating. Make sure you organize and make your content interesting.

  • Create content via PLR contents

    PLR or public label rights content are everywhere in the web, just google to look for them. Do you research based on the content in PLR and construct your own unique content out from it.

  • Create content via interview

    Content creator may not be the subject matter expert, however, you can still create contents via interviewing the subject matter expert. Attending courses and one on one interview is the best way to obtain facts needed for your content creation

  • Create content via outsourcing

    Set your objectives, criteria of the content you needed. Outsource the content sourcing and creation to another party - have them do it for you for a price.

And there you go the four main ways to create content!

Should we support SCORM for a new e-learning 2.0 platform?

For me, SCORM and e-learning 2.0 totally different world.

SCORM, centralized, institution centered and IP ownership vs. e-learning 2.0, on the other hand decentralized, learner-centered. See the picture?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying SCORM is bad or anything, it just that it doesn’t make sense to incorporate features of SCORM in e-Learning 2.0 for the reasons below: -

  • SCORM does not support learning through remixing of pre-authored content.
  • Some SCORM content does have IP or copyright to control distribution and content.
  • Collaborative effort in making contents for SCORM just so that, can be applied in e-Learning 2.0 seems pointless.

So far, there’s still no clear indication of SCORM integrating into e-Learning 2.0. What do you think?

Recently, Microsoft is making a lot of buzz on astronomical stuff, it is regarding about the investment Microsoft did 16 years ago (The SkyServer project). As a result, Microsoft will launching WorldWide Telescope (WWT) at Spring 2008.

“The WorldWide Telescope takes the best images from the greatest telescopes on Earth … and in space … and assembles them into a seamless, holistic view of the universe. This new resource will change the way we do astronomy … the way we teach astronomy … and, most importantly, I think it’s going to change the way we see ourselves in the universe,” said Dr. Roy Gould of the Harvard Center for Astrophysics. Visit to their site says the software will be available free for download at Spring 2008.
